So I’ll admit that I’m undecided where to go with Sam as a character. I haven’t written anything in stone yet, as I like to keep some options open to me. I’ve always rather enjoyed Sam away from Jason, and would like to explore more about the complication Jason’s twin offers to Sam’s life, the guilt, the disgust, even. I haven’t decided if she’s involved in the whole plan, though I’m not inclined to go in that direction. She’s a con artist at heart (which I don’t mind utilizing) but not a master villain.

But planning a larger and more involved storyline for Sam may not be something most of my readers are looking for. What do you think? I’d like to try it out, but I don’t want to incur ire. Damaged is different than my other projects, in that I hope to get input from readers and use it to plan future stories.

So your May question is: How much of Sam can you handle? Would it change your mind if I said I have no plans to put her back with Jason?

  • Melissa, as long as she is nowhere close to the real Jason, you use as much, or as little, of Sam as you want. I have to admit that I really don’t care much for the actress, which has much to do with my dislike of the character – of course the fact that she has come between Jason and Elizabeth on more than one occasion, and has been whitewashed into something nearing a saint, also has much to do with my opinion. However, having said that, I love your writing, and I will enjoy anything you do with her.

  • I don’t enjoy Sam, nor do I enjoy stories about her.

I agree she’s a low-level con artist rather than a criminal mastermind, which requires far more intellect than Sam possesses.

  • yeah, what JoAnn said…
& I agree with the politely put last sentence of Jane.

  • Sam when she was on at first… i was fine with… but once she crossed the line with Jake & Cam… i was done… ultimately it’s your muse that has to make the decision 😀 I’d just prefer as little of Sam as is necessary to tell the story… 😀
